Apical Resection
The apical resection procedure, or more commonly known as root tip resection, applied against inflammation in the area of the tip of the roots of the dental bone, makes it possible to eliminate risky conditions such as bone destruction or abscess in patients. This procedure, which is performed in cases where it is not sufficient to relieve inflammation with a root canal treatment;
- Dental root cysts,
- Structural imperfection of the root and when success is not achieved in root canal treatment,
- When any tool used in the treatment process is broken and needs to be removed,
- Cases where the patient's pain continues even if root canal treatment is performed.
Local anesthesia is generally preferred in apical resection surgeries. After reaching the infected tissues in the incised gingiva, the relevant area is cleaned and the inflammation is eliminated. After suturing, the procedure is completed. Then, the relevant area is left to itself for the formation of bone tissue.
After the surgery, the patients should;
- Apply ice to prevent swelling,
- Pay attention to solid food consumption,Pay attention to solid food consumption,
- Keep the applied tampon in the mouth for half an hour,
- Not consume any food within 2 hours after the operation,
- Not have an overdenture prosthesis for a period of 3-4 months,
- Pay attention to the cleanliness and maintenance of the relevant area,
- Take antibiotics and painkillers given by the doctor on time.
